Taina's unique hike Around-the-Globe
Me, 55, alone, 20kg backpack, 70 million steps, and 4+ years to hike
When I was hiking to Finland, I got hundreds of thousands of views from a single post on social media with my very unique hike, but now I´m going Global!
Who is Hiker Taina?
I am Taina Liekari, a sunny mother of three grown children and a grandmother of two lovely grandchildren. I live with my husband in Costa del Sol, Spain. Exercise, especially walking, is an integral part of my life. There are many opportunities to hiking adventures in the mountains and admire the breathtaking scenery. I also enjoy guiding other people when at home.
In addition to the surrounding areas, I have walked 4 600 km from Spain to Finland, cycled 4 000km around Spain and 6 700 km on a "bull hunt". Sure I have also done several other hikes of hundreds of kilometers, like famous 850km Camino de Santiago twice.

The leading TV channel MTV3 in Finland interviewed me several times and sent stories along with many other media. When I arrived in Turku, Finland on 22.07.2022, all the media were there to welcome me, even the final destination was Helsinki. Here is the link to MTV3's post on their site and an interview that was broadcast live the same morning. I expect to reach the media in all the countries I'll be visiting, as well as others, because there's a lot of interest in this kind of very unique hike.

Next Around the World!
The route will be
Guinness World Records and World Runners Association compliant.
They will set the official requirements to what is actually "around the world". Most of the time I will walk alone and carry my own equipment, but if necessary, I can also call on the help of a support team or, in the most dangerous areas, a security guard. The route will change during the walk, depending on world events and the wishes of the sponsors. A tent will only be a temporary shelter if needed and I will normally stay in hostels, hotels, Airbnb and homestays.
The walk will be primarily funded by sponsors and also have a charity theme!
Going clockwise from Madrid
I started from Spain, in August 2024. The route will be about 37 000 km and take about 4-5 years to complete. I will visit about 25 countries and four continents: Spain, Andorra, France, Monaco, Italy, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Montenegro, Albania, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Bulgaria, Greece, Turkey, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, China, Mongolia, South-Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Philipines, Australia, New Zeland, Hawaiji, USA, Portugal.

Maps are not exact because of changes in accomodation, weather etc. Past or coming daily maps are not possible to publish simply because of too much work to do already on the way.
I'm sure you want to be part of a very unique hike that only a handful of people have completed to meet the Guinness World Records criteria, but never with business marketing ideas. Hiking trips like this do not exist.
To complete a circumnavigation on foot according to Guinness World Records and World Runners Association, several special requirements must be met:
- Route and Distance: You must cover a minimum distance of 36,787.559 km (22,806.65 miles), equivalent to the circumference of the Earth along the Tropic of Cancer. The journey should begin and end in the same place and cross all meridians.
- Continents and Oceans: The journey must pass through two antipodal points and involve travel across at least four continents. You need to cross both the Equator and all lines of longitude.
- Witnesses and Documentation: Every kilometer must be verified with GPS data, signed witness statements, and photographic evidence. Keeping a detailed logbook is essential to record daily progress and notable events.
- Health and Safety: Ensuring the journey is safe is the participant's responsibility. Adequate planning, physical fitness, and preparation for varied climatic and geographical conditions are critical.
- Environmental and Legal Compliance: Adhering to local laws and respecting environmental regulations is mandatory throughout the journey.
- Equipment: Use of appropriate and reliable gear for navigation, documentation, and personal safety is required.
These requirements ensure the journey is well-documented, verified, and safely conducted, meeting the rigorous standards set by Guinness World Records
